The Technology Ministry TeamThe team is responsible for the maintenance and trouble resolution of Columbias Computer and Network systems. This team is critical to the efficient working of almost every aspect of work at Columbia that is done on a computer.

Vehicle DriversColumbia serves members and visitors by driving a van or the bus for church functions safely and courteously while following vehicle guidelines. Interacting with people and sightseeing are a bonus!

Prayer Experience Ministry teamThis team is designed to provide different prayer experiences to the Columbia family of faith. Currently the team has created Contemplative Prayer Retreats (Fall and Spring) and three different guided Prayer Labyrinth experiences. The Labyrinth allows individuals to come and pray silently at several stations where they are prompted to focus on certain topics, Scripture and activities.

Discipleship Ministry TeamThis team spearheads Journey with Christ, Columbias model for intentional growth as followers of Christ. The team meets once a month to share its own personal growth and to plan and implement the JWC opportunities offered on Sunday evening during the Fall, Winter, and Spring.

Adult Sunday School Ministry TeamThis team serves to support, encourage and strategically plans for the ministry of Adult Sunday morning Bible studies. The team partners with Lay Ministries in staffing the Welcome Center on Sunday mornings, where guest experience a warm welcome and they are directed to the Bible study of their choice.

Ignition Groups Ministry TeamThis team prepares material and organizes sermon based small groups. This includes writing notes weekly, recruiting and training facilitators and helping people find the right small group for them.

Audio Visual Ministry TeamThis Team provides direct support each week to six English language services in addition to indirect support of other Columbia language congregations, as needed. Such support involves the set-up of microphones, running the sound mixing console, lights and camera. AV also provides support for the Multi-Site ministry at Columbia and duplication of tapes and DVDs of programs recorded at Columbia. Prior experience is not required.

BirthMothersBirthMothers is a national organization with a team located at Columbia. It is a trained group of friends who are matched with young women who need support through a difficult, especially unplanned pregnancy.

The World Friends Ministry TeamThis team is designed to use English as a second language (ESL) ministry to proclaim and demonstrate the love of God to our non-English speaking community seeking to lead others to salvation through Jesus Christ. ESL allows individuals to learn English in a ministry-led environment to achieve their personal level of competence.

The Coffee and Bagel TeamThis team provides a warm welcome and great fellowship to Columbians on Sunday mornings. We pick-up and prepare coffee and bagels and host the Sunday morning fellowship time in Stephenson Hall each week.

Kitchen MinistryThis ministry is here to fill the soul, through the stomach, to all who enter the doors of Columbia. Whether it is breakfast, lunch, dinner or fellowship the Kitchen Ministry is there to provide the food to keep all satisfied.

Dinner/Luncheon Server TeamThis team provides a large helping of hospitality as we serve meals to those attending our Wednesday Night Dinners, Business Meeting Lunches (3rd Sunday every other month) and other fun events at church.

Lay Ministry Coaching TeamThis team helps individuals find their place of service at Columbia through one-on-one Coaching Sessions. The coaches dialogue with individuals about three primary areas: 1) spiritual gifts, 2) personal style, and 3) passion (who or what you care most about when serving others). The Coach collects this and other key information and discusses it with individuals to help them find the best ministry fit for serving God by serving others. Significant administrative support is also needed for this exciting team.

Lay Minister Appreciation TeamThis teams goal is to encourage the ongoing appreciation and encouragement of Lay Ministers who provide such valuable unpaid contributions of time and talent at Columbia. This team assists in the organization of at least one large appreciation event each year.

Mens Ministry TeamThis team supports weekly Iron Man breakfasts, mens Bible studies and small groups. Each year there is a mens Bible and Golf retreat planned for June. Being a new ministry team they are seeking new ways to draw men together for spiritual growth and ministry opportunities.

The Columbia Center for Missions (CCM)The Center houses Columbias food pantry. The purpose of this ministry is to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors who need our help to feed their families. Our goal is to proclaim and demonstrate the love of Christ to our local community in need. We prepare bags of groceries for clients, offer them prayer and show Christian love to them. The Center is open every Saturday morning from 9:30 12 noon.

Shop-n-ShareOur church family donates food to stock the shelves of the Columbia Center for Missions through Shop-n-Share. Food donations are placed in blue bins placed throughout the church. This food is taken to CCM, sorted and shelved. Help is needed transporting food on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sundays of the month.

Womans Missionary UnionThe primary work of the Womans Missionary Union is to lead the church and WMU members to pray for and give to missions; do missions; learn about missions; develop spiritually toward a missions lifestyle; and to participate in the work of the church, association, state and the denomination.

Face Painting MinistryThis ministry offers free face painting and craft activities for children, and hands out ready-made evangelism gifts. The team offers its talents at various Columbia events (e.g., Memorial Day, Vacation Bible School, School Supply Day, etc.) as a way to demonstrate and tell of the love of Christ to unchurched children and their parents.
back to top Columbia Bicycles for Kids Ministry TeamThis team collects new or used childrens bicycles from neighbors, fellow church members and local schools. We repair, tune, clean and polish the bikes to restore them to a like-new condition. The bicycles will be distributed before Christmas each year to children who otherwise would not have one.

Comedy Night Ministry TeamThis team plans and hosts Columbias annual Comedy Night Comedy Nights purpose is to offer a fun, high quality church event to which Columbia members can invite their un-churched friends. This event generally occurs in the winter.

Columbia @ CrossroadsThis is our churchs next multisite congregation, with a launch date of Easter Sunday, April 16, 2006. Utilizing live worship with a contemporary praise band, Dr. Baucoms teaching via video, sermon-based small groups and onsite ministries to preschoolers and children, this new venture will reach and disciple hundreds of persons for Christ.

Columbia @ GreenspringThis is our church's first multisite congregation, begun in the spring of 2005 at Greenspring Village, a retirement community in Springfield, Virginia. With a Monday evening service in a traditional setting, this ministry provides community residents opportunities for worship, fellowship, and Dr. Baucom's teaching via video.

Mission FriendsThis is a missions adventure for preschoolers ages 3 - Kindergarten where children learn how missionaries share Gods love with people throughout the United States and around the world. Through a variety of fun activities, Mission Friends explore the foods, environment, language and culture of people in the various ministry areas. Mission Friends also participates in various hands-on missions activities throughout the year. Mission Friends meets on Sunday nights while parents are in adult discipleship.

Vacation Bible School Ministry TeamThis team is guided by its goal of reaching people of all ages, leading them to know and respond to Jesus Christ as led by the Holy Spirit through the process of assembling a team, preparing for VBS, executing the plan for VBS and in the days of follow up and evaluation after VBS. The VBS team seeks to provide a loving atmosphere and a quality Christian education experience for all children who attend. The team is grounded by its intentionality in encouraging one another and praying for each other throughout this process.

Little LambsThis mission is a Christian co-operative mothers day out ministry that operates to support mothers who have decided to stay home to raise their children. It strives to create a safe, nurturing environment in which children can learn social interaction, creative play, and Biblically based values.

Child Development CenterThe Center is an auxiliary ministry that serves the surrounding community of Falls Church by teaching and caring for children in a Christ centered environment. The CDC is state licensed and enrolls children from 2 1/2 years of age. It is primarily a preschool program that also offers extended day care for families and summer programs for K-5th grade. The CDC Advisory Board accepts volunteers to help oversee the operations of the Center.

Retreat Center Ministry TeamThis team plays a variety of roles in the beautification of Columbias Retreat Center and surrounding property. Tasks include building maintenance, cleaning, landscaping, and renovations. Often we have volunteer weekends when we have a group of people serve together to accomplish many of these tasks. These tasks are also available for you to sign-up for on an individual basis.

A team of individuals representative of Columbias congregation contacts guests who visit with us each week, welcoming them, answering any questions they may have about Columbia and helping them get connected to a Columbia community.

Warm Welcome TeamThis teams goal is to ensure that every guest to Columbia receives a warm welcome and leaves with a great first impression of our church and, therefore, our faith. This team hosts events, such as Welcome Lunches, to allow guests the opportunity to ask questions and get quickly connected to our church. In addition, we partner with the Sunday School Ministry team in hosting the Welcome Center on Sunday mornings and Saturday nights. This personal contact is critical to Columbias uniquely warm welcome.

New Member Assimilation Ministry TeamThis team supports all aspects of assisting new members become quickly assimilated into the life of Columbia. This includes the Welcome to Columbia board which displays pictures and bios of new members, creation of a new member packet and hosting of other special events specifically geared toward new members.

Womens Ministry TeamThis team is Columbia women igniting passion for Jesus Christ by providing opportunities for spiritual growth, intergenerational fellowship, mission service and relationship building with other women in the church. They sponsor an annual retreat, a variety of Bible studies, an annual speakers brunch, craft workshops, and other activities that allow women to fellowship and serve together.

Sanctuary ChoirThis choir is a group of adults, college age and above, which serves as the service choir for the 11:00 AM worship service on Sundays. This group also provides special music for other occasions such as a major classical concert in the Spring and a Broadway-style outreach musical at Christmas.

Gospel ChoirThis choir sings contemporary gospel music for Columbias Celebration service as well as special performances inside and outside Columbia.

Praise TeamThis team supports the 6:29 Saturday evening service and the 9:45 Celebration Service. Vocalists, musicians and technical support work together in support of these services.

6:29 ServiceThis service offers a casual, welcoming and contemporary worship experience on Saturday nights in Stephenson Hall. There are multiple opportunities for service to help ensure the success of this new ministry.

Worship, Music & Arts AdministrationProvides support for and facilitates the ministry of all areas of the Worship, Music & Arts Ministry. This includes support for worship services, childrens, youth and adult choirs, instrumental groups, weddings, funerals, and special events.

S.T.A.R.S.This is our art, music and activity program for children from age 3 through 5th grade. It stands for Sing, Tell, Act, Ring, Share. Through this program we encourage the children to "Shine the Spotlight on Jesus." S.T.A.R.S. meets on Wednesday evenings from 6 - 7:30pm.

Columbia Institute of Fine ArtsCIFA is a program of education in which students receive lessons and classroom instruction in music and the arts. The goals of the Institute, which is lead by a volunteer board of Columbia members, are to provide quality instruction in music and to prepare students for future service through the development of skills for performance and ministry.

Flower Committee MinistryThis ministry has the privilege of serving Columbia through the arrangement and display of Sanctuary flowers each week. Flowers are given by church members in honor of or in memory of loved ones. After their use on Sundays, these flowers are rearranged and taken to members in local hospitals, nursing homes and to the homebound. The Committee also decorates the church for special holidays such as Easter and Christmas.
